Sauteed Green Beans with Fennel and Garlic Seasoning

I can’t believe we’re already half way through January… Scary!

I’ve had a little trouble getting back into the swing of things since the holiday season has ended. When you work from home, discipline is crucial to how successful you are in your career because no one is there to monitor the amount of work and hours you put in everyday.

Therefore it’s important to be good at self-motivating myself in moments when all I want to do is sleep and play Farm Heroes Saga. Was it the winter blues or saying goodbye to my mother who is now back in Japan that made me feel so gloomy? I don’t know but it’s been a tough road finding that drive back.

The thought of going in the kitchen and making something as simple as this sauteed green beans recipe seemed too daunting and it felt as though I barely had enough energy to order food on Seamless. It slowly became obvious that I was stuck in a rut.

But something finally clicked a couple of days ago when I woke up to an inner voice shouting loudly, almost angrily “alright, enough of this woe is me nonsense. Snap out it!” inside my head. And just like that, I was back on my feet and ready to plow through a busy week of catching up and creating more recipes for the new year. I gave myself a good kick in the butt and now I’m happy to say “I’m back baby!”

I’ve been making this sauteed green beans with fennel and garlic seasoning for some time now but didn’t think of posting it because it felt too easy.

Then a thought occur to me.

People like easy recipes so what am I waiting for? This sauteed green beans recipe is the bomb and takes less than 10 minutes to make so…Hello? Grab the camera, shoot the dish and publish it!

Yes, I can be a little slow sometimes. Great ideas can be staring me in the face for weeks before I notice them. Also, when you have a food blog, the pressure to constantly publish different and unique recipes is ever present. But I don’t mess with simple and delicious recipes like this one because they are perfect just the way they are! So here you go ladies & gents; this is one of my favorite and super duper simple sauteed green beans recipes I think you will also love!

I’m using Jane’s Krazy Chunky Mixed Up Garlic Seasoning for this sauteed green beans recipe but you can use other garlic seasonings if you can’t find it. What I like so much about this particular garlic seasoning is the variety of spices and crunchy, dehydrated pieces of onion and garlic added to it.

It’s a really powerful seasoning that adds depth of flavor to almost any dish. Unfortunately I have only been able to find it in Japanese grocery stores and on Amazon, so if you know of other ways to get hold of this yummy seasoning, leave me a comment!

Regular green beans can also be used in this sauteed green beans recipe though I strongly recommend taking the extra the step to find French green beans.

They are slimmer, more delicate and cook faster.

Unless I am making a classic Chinese green bean dish, I will most likely choose French beans if it involves sauteeing them. I just like them better, taste and texture wise.
