This lemon and lime energy tonic is the perfect mid afternoon pick up for a post-lunch dip!
Lemon & Lime Energy Tonic
It happens every day around 3pm for me. I will be in the middle of doing something and suddenly start feeling drowsy. Walking around helps but lately I’ve noticed that drinking a beverage high in electrolytes and vitamin C perks me up even more. Instead of buying energy drinks which are filled with sugar and additives, I make my own and keep them simple. Take this lemon and lime energy tonic for example – only five ingredients and there is no need for a blender!
I’m using fresh lemon and lime juice which are very high in vitamin C (excellent for your skin too!), coconut water which is high in electrolytes (it regulates your body’s fluid balance and keeps it hydrated), raw organic honey which is high in antioxidant and contains natural glucose and fructose to increase performance, and paprika to stimulate and carry oxygen throughout the body (due to the iron found in it). Plus, the flavor of citrus itself is invigorating and tastes great!
It’s a quick, easy and healthy energy drink to make and it can be kept refrigerated up to a week. I recommend making a pitcher of it so you can sip on this tonic all week long!

I’m not a fan of coconut, what would you substitute the coconut water with?
Hi Ivy, I’m not a fan of coconut water either but it doesn’t bother in this drink. You can use regular water or aloe vera juice, which is a favorite of mine 🙂
Awesome!!! Thanks for sharing such a kind of recipe with us. It’s very effective drink.
