Sunny Cilantro Cucumber Vodka
I have a really yummy cocktail recipe for you today!
It’s a refreshing glass of sunshine packed with vitamin C and cilantro goodness. And to make it even tastier, I’m using cucumber flavored vodka and a little honey to make your tastebuds swoon and do the Cha Cha.
This cocktail has it all – it’s fruity, sweet and tart with grassy notes and a hint of floral. It’s absolutely delicious!
Meet my very own little creation: the sunny cilantro cucumber vodka – A.K.A my new favorite summer drink!
The idea of combining these ingredients came together after making a Thai fruit salad. I noticed that the cilantro leaves elevated the sweetness of the fruits and gave the salad a very unique flavor. The kind of flavor that’s specific to southeast Asia.
And since I love Asian food more than any other types of food, it only made sense to try and create a cocktail version of the dish.
And I’m happy to report it was a success!
It’s a very simple recipe with six easy-to-find ingredients.
I’ve mixed freshly squeezed orange juice and lemon juice with a tablespoon of organic honey, some chopped cilantro and a splash of soda water.
For the boozy part of the drink I’m using Prairie Organic Cucumber Vodka, because of its smooth and cooling taste. Its unique, award-winning taste which is made through a detailed process, starting with the best organic corn, marries beautifully with the tangy citrus flavors while adding a little floral oomph to every sip.
Prairie Organic Vodka is made right here in the US, by family farmers in Minnesota. It’s also one of the first USDA Certified Organic spirits that’s free of harmful chemicals and GMOs. What you get is a vodka that’s a little sweet and super easy to drink.
In fact, it’s so smooth that it can be served on its own with a few ice cubes.
I Don’t Like Cilantro – Can I substitute It For Something Else?
Swap cilantro for freshly chopped basil or mint. Basil pairs beautifully with citrus fruits while mint and cucumber flavored vodka make music together.
A fun thing to do at your next barbecue or backyard dinner party would be to have both options available for your guests. If they are looking for a classic flavor combo, offer them the sunny basil cucumber vodka. And if they want to taste something that’s just WOW, recommend they give the cilantro version a try.
Prepping For Your Summer Cocktail Party
I’ve thrown quite a few cocktail parties throughout the years and I can tell you the more prep you do, the better it is for YOU. Otherwise you won’t be able to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere you have created for everyone.
For one of these sunny cilantro cucumber vodka you will need a small orange and about half a lemon. Juicing can be time consuming if it’s done on a per drink basis so I recommend doing this ahead of time. Keep a pitcher of freshly squeezed orange juice and a pitcher of freshly squeezed lemon juice ready to go, in your fridge.
Also, keep store bought orange juice in the fridge just in case you run out. It won’t be as refreshing but will do the trick as an emergency substitute. I don’t recommend using store bought lemon juice though since it tends to be extremely bitter.
To keep cilantro fresh: Grab a jar and fill it with about an inch of water. Trim the base of the cilantro (just like you would do for flowers) and add to the jar. Cover with a lid and refrigerate until the day of. You can chop it a few hours before your guests arrive, however I don’t recommend doing it the day before since the leaves might loose their vibrant green color.
Enjoy the Warm Summer Days!Summer is all about relaxation and spending time outside with the people we love.
Some of us rent a cottage and go away for a few days. Others take their family to the beach.
I invite friends over to my rooftop so we can marvel at the beautiful NYC skyline. As the sky turns pink and orange, and the sun slowly sets behind tall buildings, we sit, laugh and share stories about our lives.
So cheers to a fun summer and delicious cucumber flavored vodka cocktails!
