Strawberry Banana Smoothie (with Matcha)
Today, I’m going to show you how to make a strawberry banana smoothie with four ingredients and a blender. Yep, it doesn’t get any easier than that so now you no longer have an excuse for not eating healthy in the morning!
I have a love hate relationship with smoothies. I love them because they are healthy and taste great but the more complicated they are and the more I hate the prepping process. I know, that sounds very lazy of me to say something like that but hey, I’m just like everyone else. I go through phases where I just don’t feel like making drinks and dishes from scratch. Especially when it’s hot outside and all I want to do is stay in bed and feel the crisp cotton sheets up against my bare legs. Don’t we all wish we could take a few months off to do nothing except sleep, read good books, drink wine and eat out every day? To not have to utter the words chores or work and instead focus on simply being content and in the moment? Now that would be the life!
Since that’s not going to happen to me any time soon, I found other ways to slow things down in order to get some much needed r&r. This summer I’ve committed myself to take an extra hour off every day. Instead of finishing work at 7, I turn off my computer at 6 so that Ben and I can go for a nice long stroll. On the weekends I stay away from electronics and take time to listen to the sounds of birds chirping as I lay on the living room floor with my eyes closed. It’s a way for me to stay connected with the present and be grateful for all that is surrounding me. I also catch up on missed readings and just like my mother used to do, order dinner in every Sunday.
Of course, I still have to cook regularly to maintain the blog but I’ve decided to keep my recipes easy and simple. The idea of making a smoothie with only four ingredients sounded crazy at first – I thought it would lack flavor big time – but it turned out to be the exact opposite! By using very ripe bananas there is no need to add any honey or other sweeteners. Blending the bananas with strawberries and almond milk yields a beverage that pretty much tastes like the best strawberry milk you’ve ever had. A sprinkle of matcha powder turns this strawberry banana smoothie into an antioxidant bomb filled with goodness for the skin!
If you’d like to add even more health benefits to this smoothy, a heaping teaspoon of ground flaxseed will keep your heart healthy and hair shiny. But remember, this recipe is low on ingredients so that you and I can relax in the kitchen and spoil ourselves with me time! No chopping a bunch of fruit here – keep it low key and stress free!
This strawberry banana smoothie will keep refrigerated for up to two days.

Hi! Thanks for this recipe! I tried it this morning but I added a little bit of spinach and chia seeds, and honey. It tasted so good! And was very smooth 🙂
I always like the strawberry banana smoothie but I never tried adding some matcha powder. Hmm, I am excited to try this and I’ll just buy matcha powder from the grocery.
