Oven Baked Za’atar Fries

Description

Homemade, healthy oven baked fries spiced with a Moroccan flair!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium russet potatoes (peeled and cut into sticks)
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Za’atar spice mix:

  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh oregano (chopped)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ground sumac
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450ºF.
  2. In a small bowl, add ingredients for the za’atar spice mix and stir until blended. Set aside.
  3. Slice the potatoes into matchsticks place them on a baking tray covered with parchment paper.
  4. Drizzle 1 tablespoon olive oil, season with salt and toss the potatoes until they are evenly coated.
  5. Bake for 25-35 minutes, flipping them over halfway through the cooking process.
  6. Take the fries out of the oven and transfer to a large bowl. Drizzle the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil, add 2 tablespoons of the za’atar spice mix and toss until the fries are evenly coated. Add more za’atar spice mix if needed. Serve.

Notes

Make extra za’atar spice mix and use it with fish or other veggies.
