Description

Only 6 ingredients are needed to make these simple and delicious baked shrimp dumplings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 to 12 large shrimp with the tail on, thawed
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/3 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 10 to 12 gyoza/dumpling wrappers
  • Olive oil, for brushing the wrappers

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 380ºF.
  2. Remove the head of each shrimp and carefully peel and devein each shrimp, leaving the tail on.
  3. Make a few shallow cuts across the shrimp, widthwise, all the way to the tail. This prevents the shrimp from curling too much during the cooking process.
  4. Put the shrimp in a bowl and season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Toss the shrimp using your fingers or a spoon, to coat the shrimp evenly.
  5. Cover a baking sheet with foil, with the matte side facing up.
  6. Place the wrappers on the foil and brush the inside of each wrapper with a little oil.
  7. Add a little parmesan cheese in the center of each wrapper and top with a shrimp.
  8. Wet your index finger and run it along the edge of a wrapper. Fold the wrapper in half and gently press the edges to seal the dumpling, leaving the tail sticking out. Make sure that the wrapper is properly sealed otherwise it may open up while it’s baking. Repeat this step for all the dumplings.
  9. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes and flip the dumplings over. Bake for 5 to 7 minutes, until crispy and golden.
  10. Serve as is or with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Save these shrimp dumplings in foil and refrigerate for up to 2 days.
