For years, every time Padma said, “Please pack your knives and go,” I’d be squinting at the TV, trying in vain to ascertain exactly what type of steel was being sheathed and taken away after the loss. Watching Top Chef, and the myriad knives everyone seemed to have, made me think I might just be doing it wrong. Ever since my husband came home one day with a WÜSTHOF LE CORDON BLEU 8-inch Cook’s Knife for my birthday, I had been making a go of it in the kitchen with one awesome knife for everything – and it seemed to be doing the trick. Was I wrong? Short answer: NO. I’m a cook – not a Samurai. But, you do need a good knife in the kitchen – an extension of your hand. The right blade can do everything if you guide it well.
I’m extremely excited to be partnering up with my friends at WÜSTHOF who are offering my readers (that’s you!) the opportunity to win an amazing, state-of-the-art knife that will become your go-to kitchen tool – and, who knows, maybe even help propel your mise en place prep skills to dazzling cooking-show-caliber heights!
Two (2) winners will receive one (1) WÜSTHOF CLASSIC 7-inch Hollow Edge Chai Dao knife – Suggested Retail Value $120
WÜSTHOF’s CLASSIC 7-inch Hollow Edge Chai Dao features a wide blade with a razor sharp PEtec fine edge that curves dramatically upwards as it nears the knife’s squared-off tip. The curved profile of the blade is perfect for chopping, mincing, dicing and slicing by employing an effortless rocking motion on your cutting board. Primarily designed for prepping vegetables and fruits, it will take on everything from shaving paper-thin shallots to cubing tough cuts of beef. WÜSTHOF CLASSIC knives are crafted in Solingen, Germany and are precision forged from a single piece of an exclusive high-carbon, stain-resistant alloy – engineered to enhance edge-retention and to facilitate re-sharpening. WÜSTHOF’s Precision Edge Technology ensures that the razor sharp blades have absolutely equal angles on both sides, an increased sharpness of 20 percent and will maintain their edge for twice as long as traditionally crafted blades. All WÜSTHOF knives are fully guaranteed to be free of defects in craftsmanship.

My knife skills are ok… could be better…
Hello! My knives are twenty four years old. From my wedding gifts. I still manage to get dinner 7 nights a week though. I definitely need to think about getting new ones.
Ok, still learning
My knife skills are pretty good but I would love to be better.
I’d say my skills are pretty good. As long as I have a good knife anyway!
Not too bad. I can julienne, dice, chop and filet quickly, but deboning a chicken is still in the works…
My knife skills are pretty good because i cook often. A new set of knife will just add in to my love towords cooking
I’m good with my knives as long as they are sharp and well made.
very beginner level
I took a cooking class about a month ago. Having this kind of knife would help me practice.
Skills are so-so…..having great knives does help! This would be wonderful to win!
I actually just got a lesson from my dad who is a chef, apparently it’s amazing that I still have all of my fingers!
My knife skills could be much better but a new knife would certainly help!
Pretty good I guess, since I’ve never cut myself.
My knife skills in the kitchen are pretty good but could be better if i had better knives.
My knife skills are better than average but I still worry I would take off the end of a finger on Chopped.
If I actually win this I better try to improve them so I don’t chop my finger off. My knives are all so dull. Not used to cutting with a sharp one any more. LOL
Mine are actually improving but I still have a lot to learn.
I am learning. my husband works in the food industry and goes to school for it so he teaches me the proper way to use each knife and what each knife is used for.
My knife skills are amazing.
My knife skill are really good if I have the proper knife for the job!
I lived with a professional chef for several years. I have him to thank for my better-than-average knife skills.
On a scale of 1 – 10, I would consider myself a 5 on my knife skills. I just need it to be sharp. I have no patience for dull knives!
My knife skills have gotten better through the years, but I still don’t look like those chefs on tv who make it look so effortless! My hubby is very good, though, with knives in the kitchen!
I have pretty good knife skills as long as I have a quality knife.
If I have the right knife and its sharp I can actually do pretty good.
Mine aren’t great but my husbands are!
They’re decent but could work on improving them!
My knife skills are excellent
I’m not at the “seasoned chef” stage but I’m certainly working on getting there!
my knife skills are great no expert but i can get the job done
Mu knife skills are pretty darn good!
Skills are fair.
I have been looking at purchasing some Wusthof knives! My knife skills are decent-good enough for everyday, but nothing super fancy
I’m decent with knives, but could definitely be better!
I still get some cuts and scrapes while chopping.

My knife skills are not the greatest but not the worst. A good knife would be a big help.
My knife skills are not too good. I need better knives.
I need some work on my skills, This knife would make practicing a heck of a lot better.
My skills are beginner level.
My knife skills are pretty dang good! My husband’s, however…nope. Just nope.
I would say my knife skills are pretty sufficient for day-to-day cooking. I may not chop as fast as professional chefs, but I’m working on it! 🙂
I learned my knife skills from Alton Brown. 🙂 They’re subpar, but I do all right.
I’ve been a knife lover for a while. I’ve often admired the craftsmanship from artisans from other countries. My favourites are those from Kyoto. I’m still learning though. . .
My husband is a chef he would love this knife!
My knife skills are decent as I’ve been practicing a lot lately. And I have this brand their great
My husband is pretty darn talented. thank you
I would love to win this
My knife skills r not anything to write home about. My husband is much better than I. I’ve been practicing lately though.
My knife skills are so-so
All I can say is I respect the knive. I learn to do whatever the knive will let me do. Sometimes I am pretty good with cutting meat into slices.
They would be 100% better if my knives weren’t so dull.
I haven’t lost a finger yet so I guess I’m either really good or really lucky!!
As good as anyone I guess, not the best
My knife skills are excellent. My knives, not so much. They’re duller than a butter knife stuck in the dirt.
My knife skills are excellent. My knives, not so much. They’re duller than a butter knife.
I still have all my fingers and toes, so I guess not too shabby.
I am lucky not to have lost any finger. In other words, I suck.!
My knive skills are pretty good when i have a sharp knife. I feel like that is the hardest part.
I am a novice but my son is pretty good. Fortunately, he is the cook.
Not too bad…but this could make them so much better!
Definitely a amateur
I fell in love with Wustof knives decades ago. They are such quality kitchen tools.
Need something to help me with my knife skills!
Not very good, but I blame that on sub-par equipment! Would love to try this knife out! THanks for the giveaway!
could be a lot better with this knife
We invested in a set of Wusthof knives a few years ago and my “knife skills” immediately improved. It’s amazing the difference a good knife can make!
still have all my finger!
My Knife Skills could be better, if I had some nice sharp knives to chop with.
I rule with a kitchen knife
I spend more time sharpening than cutting
I am very good, at this point in my life, with a knife in the kitchen. Many years of practice and cooking for family almost every night really makes me want this sharp knife.
good enough to get by
I have no knife skills because I have no sharp knives!
They would be better if I had great knives!
My kitchen skills are pretty good because I get lots of experience cooking for six kids!
My knife skills need improvement, I would say I am average with a knife in the kitchen
I am above average with a knife, although I am no ninja.
My knife skills are pretty good; my knives, not so much.
My knife skills are terrible. The only thing I can mange to do is cut stuff in big uneven cubes.
I’m pretty good with a knife , barely make any noise on a glass cutting board.
My knife skills aren’t expert, but not a novice. I guess they are about average.
My knife skills are good, I rarely cut myself!
My knife skills in the kitchen are ok… Bet they’d be better with this awesome new knife!
I am ok with knives and really need some good ones! Thanks
My knife skills are above average. I used to manage a meat department in a small / local chain of grocery stores.
My knife skills are about average.
Still learning
My knife skills need practice!
I would like to think my knife skills are pretty good
Not so sharp
My knife skills are so so. I don’t cut myself but I’m not fast either.
My knife skills improved quite a bit after I spent a few years watching the Cooking Channel back when I had satellite tv. I still like to watch the PBS cooking shows. I am not as fast by any means but I am more precise than before and never cut myself anymore.
Great knives!
I work part-time in a Kitchen. the Chef has taught me several knife tips. When using her knife, I’m pretty good with basic chopping.
I could use some practice.
Pretty good considering I’m the cook in the family
My knife skills are pretty good lol still have all my fingers. Yay
I have horrible knife skills. However, I am blessed to have a husband who has great knife skills as well as doing 100% of the baking and cooking he also does the dishes!!! 🙂
my knife skills are non-existent!
I’d love to win… especially since the handle to my knife just broke!
My knife skills are decent as I’ve been practicing a lot lately, but I still have a ways to go. I’m leaving in June for a 4 month internship at a big hotel so using a knife in the kitchen everyday then will help me a great deal!
My knife skills don’t exist. I’m lucky if I come out without a scrape no matter how slowly I go.
About a year…two years by now…I started to do whole foods cooked at home. Even after many years of “putting dinner on the table.” this is something altogether different that requires new tools and new skills (new to me, that is,,,my grandmother would be rolling her eyes!) Knife skills? Nothing like the chefs I see on the videos, but coming along fairly nicely with daily practice.
My knife skills improved a lot when I took a class at Sur la table, but I still have a ways to go! I got to use both Wüsthof and Miyabi knives during the class, and they’re SO much better than the ones I have at home.
I need this sooooo bad. I don’t have a great kitchen knife and this would be amazing.
I would love to win! I was just researching knives last week!
