Frying tofu is an easy and delicious way to introduce this plant based protein to kids and tofu skeptics. It can be served with a little salt and pepper which lets the crispy exterior shine (read my tutorial on how to make crispy tofu), or it can be tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce, like this recipe, to maximize flavor.
Plain extra firm or firm tofu are great to marinate. However, tofu cutlet or pressed tofu, and fish tofu are great for stir fries! These are even firmer than 'extra firm' so they hold up to sauces and stir frying therefore they won't break!
Drain tofu and wrap in paper towels to remove excess liquid.
Make your sauce. Cut tofu into squares. Heat skillet and dust tofu squares with cornstarch.
Pan fry until golden brown and turn off heat.
Pour sauce on tofu and coat. Serve and enjoy!
